This issue can be caused if USB controllers may have become corrupt.

Do you have any card readers in your computer?

They are normally USB devices attached internally to the motherboard.

I ran the troubleshooter, as you requested. It said the issue is coming from USB Port_#0001.Hub_#0001. It also says 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43).'

Since the issue persists, you may refer to the computer manufacturer website and try installing the latest version of Chipset drivers.

You may also refer to the article and try the steps provided to fix the issue.

I downloaded the driver, installed, and then rebooted my computer, but it still says I have an 'Unknown Device.' I give up, I can't figure this thing out for the life of me. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that this is related to the lightning bolt that hit my house, and damaged the USB port. Unless, someone else thinks that this could be software related. What is everyone's opinion?

Right click on the unknown device and select properties

Then select the Details tab

Then from the pull-down menu next to Property, select Hardware IDs

You should see a number like USBVID_0471&PID_0815
